On June 5-6, 2024, APChemi made waves at the Centre for Science and Environment's National Stakeholders Workshop on the Global Plastic Treaty Negotiations. Our Business Outreach and Innovation Specialist, Dr. Kavita Kadu, delivered a compelling presentation on chemical recycling, showcasing APChemi's groundbreaking pyrolysis and pyrolysis oil purification technologies.
As industry leaders, we emphasised the critical role of advanced recycling in addressing the global plastic waste crisis. Our innovative solutions not only transform non-recyclable plastic waste into valuable resources but also significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to conventional methods.
At the two-day workshop, APChemi advocated for key policies to boost plastic recycling rates:
Plastic Tax: Incentivising recycled content in packaging
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): Holding producers accountable for product lifecycles
Plastic Treaty: Enforcing global agreements on plastic lifecycle management
Mandatory Recycling Programs: Ensuring higher participation and compliance
Direct Consumer Engagement: Using QR codes for education and funding
Carbon Tax on Recyclable Plastic Burning: Discouraging incineration of recyclable plastics
Global Investment Promotion: Encouraging recycling infrastructure in Asia and Africa
Our purification technology, capable of removing up to 99.7% of impurities from pyrolysis oil, enables the use of challenging feedstocks like PET and PVC-containing multilayer packaging. This breakthrough positions APChemi at the forefront of circular plastics production.
As we continue to push the boundaries of plastic recycling technology, APChemi remains committed to fostering cross-value chain collaborations and driving sustainable solutions for a cleaner, greener future.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey towards revolutionising plastic waste management!
