Global plastic waste is projected to surge from 353 million tonnes in 2019 to approximately 430 million tonnes by 2025 and 600 million tonnes by 2040. To combat this, the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) projects plastic packaging taxes could reach $1,000/tonne by 2030 in the EU and globally by 2040.
